AR Dinosaur Book (2021)

As part of the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality module, I had to create an AR experience in Unity that provided the user interactivity and education. We were told it had to be implemented on a mobile device and incorporate a UI and 3D models. It had to teach a user somehow and provide interaction between the user and the AR.

I made an app that would be used alongside a children's book which allows you to search for cards and scan them to see and learn about a dinosaur. The idea is that these could be hidden somewhere in the real world for a child to find, providing more interactivity between them, such as a sand pit allowing them to unearth the card like a fossil. Once a card is scanned in Search mode, you then unlock that species of dinosaur in the Collection mode, which allows you to place these models on a surface, them move, rotate and scale them however you want for a photo or video. I think it provides a fun and educational experience for children while keeping it simple to use and well themed.
